General Meeting
Having reached a quorum, Commander Fred Grune called the meeting to order at 1857 hours.
Minutes of last meetings: A motion was made by Tom Lynch, and seconded, to accept the Minutes of the July 5, 2007 General Membership Meeting Minutes. Motion carried. A motion was made by Carley McConnell, second by Bud Miller, to accept the June 8, 2007 General Membership Meeting Minutes. Motion carried.
STAFF OFFICER Reports
Commander: Fred Grune gave a detailed explanation of the Bower’s Mansion encampments fall through, noting that we were requested to do one next year.
INSPECTOR GENERAL: Tom Hudson thanked everyone for the card from the group; gave explanation for the lateness of the June meeting minutes, and non-publication of The Sentinel; and thanked everyone that took notes in his absence.
ADJUTANT GENERAL: Joann Miller noted changes in how the Treasurer’s Report will be done. The NCWV received a check from Louise McConnell for Rug Sales, with a request that it go to the Ladies Fund. Motion carried.
Civilian CHIEF OF STAFF: Paulette Grune asked that donation received from the 4th Ward School be returned as a donation; a motion was made by Tom Hudson, seconded by Kathy Lynch. Motion carried. Paulette Grune also requested that the club match the amount to be contributed to the School’s Principals Office. A formal vote on the request will be taken next meeting. A discussion of a plaque presentation was tabled until the next meeting.
Confederate CHIEF OF STAFF: Bud Miller had nothing to report at this time.
Union CHIEF OF STAFF: Tom Lynch, noting computer problems on his end, had nothing to report at this time.
Safety Marshal: Carley McConnell had nothing to report at this time.
Chaplain: Bill McConnell had nothing to report at this time.

New Business:
Bower’s Mansion Picnic August 26, 2007; 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Paulette Grune volunteered to be there at 9:00 AM to claim a spot since it is first come, first served; Paulette Grune also reminded everyone to bring their own chairs.
Nevada Day Parade October 27, 2007. Tabled until next meeting.
Points for the Good of the Order:
Report by Elaine Hudson regarding a new local venue that has expressed a desire to have us there during their functions. Lending Library was generally discussed; details as they are worked out will be published.
Larry Steinberg reported that Ole Miss, Dan Spring's cannon, has been sold. He also received a request by Kiwanis for cannon salute at Dayton Park dedication. Details to follow.
Fred Grune gave a detailed explanation of why tonight's meeting was moved. Those in attendance authorized Fred Grune to find a new location. The next Staff and General Membership Meeting will be held at Porkey’s Bar-B-Que, 3372 South McCarran Boulevard, Reno, NV.
Tom Lynch reminded everyone that nominations are due next month for 2008 Life Membership, Honorary Membership, and NCWV Staff Officer positions.
