General Meeting

February 7, 2008

CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Commander Fred Grune at 6:58 PM. There were 12 members present.

Minutes of Past Meeting: The minutes of the past meeting were approved under the condition that a very serious error be addressed (see bottom of page).

Staff Officer’s reports:

Commander:  Fred Grune reported ”Hang in there.”

Inspector General:  Robert Burr had no report; however the Inspector General mentioned that he is attending an Arabic language class. Members of the group should not be surprised if future volumes of The Sentinel are written in squiggly lines and dots.

Adjutant GeneralJoanne Miller reported the club’s balance.

Civilian Chief of Staff:  Paulette Grune wanted to remind people at the meeting to support the Valentine's Ball.   Bill McConnell mentioned that he has a number of Civil War relics and suggested he could frame something for the event. The topic of Piper’s Opera House was also brought.  The possibility of donating something along the line of decorations was brought up should they (Piper’s) have some cost issues.

Confederate Chief of Staff:  Bud Miller had no report

Union Chief of Staff:  Derrick Wall deferred to Tom Lynch who mentioned that he received an email from Toni van Cliffe who plans to attend the ball, but also mentioned that along with the (unidentified) owner of a large building were curious about whether the group would like to have a dance at that (unidentified)  location.

Unfinished Business:

Tom Lynch brought up the topic of the Rendezvous being on the same day as the Reno Rodeo.  Since this would result in members being at different events, Tom felt it would be wise to notify the Rendezvous that turnout may be affected.

New Business:

Kathy Lynch mentioned that in the 4th Ward School Newsletter the club was listed in the 2007 volunteers section.  However, the acronym CHPW was assigned to us. Wacky speculation or conspiracy theories as to the meaning of these letters are welcome!

Points for the good of Order:

Paulette Grune made a motion that the meeting come to a conclusion.  Kathy Lynch and Robert Burr seconded. The motion passed and the meeting ended at 7:30…ish.

Editor’s Word:  The author of this publication wishes to convey his most sincere apologies to Louise McConnell for the frequent misspellings of her name in the previous Sentinel.  This publication affirms that her name is in fact Louise and NOT Lousie.  This was completely unintentional and I shall do my best to see that the same error does not happen again.
