Membership Meeting

 June 8, 2007

Called to order:  7:07 PM, quorum of Officers and Members present.

MINUTES OF LAST MEETING:  A motion to accept the minutes of the May 2007 meeting was made and seconded.  Only one error was noted as the June General Membership Meeting was scheduled for tonight in Mills Park and not Thursday night at Austin’s.  All present got the message so acceptance of minutes passed unanimously.

STAFF OFFICER Reports

COMMANDER'S REPORT:  Fred Grune let everyone know that Tom Hudson is visiting family in the Midwest while Elaine Hudson is having test at Stanford; a card has been sent to the Hudson’s on behalf of the group.

INSPECTOR GENERAL:  Absent, no report.

ADJUTANT GENERAL:  Joanne Miller reported an balance of $3,909.40 as of May 31, 2007 with no debits and several memberships came in mail.  Barbara Bristow and her class sent a Thank You note, which was passed around and a donation to the organization.  A clarification of Membership classification: non-voting and non-playing depending on Safety Test and dues paid was discussed.

CIVILIAN CHIEF OF STAFF:  Paulette Grune reported receiving a Thank You note from Henrietta Rapp for the Fallon Confederate Memorial ceremony.  Paulette Grune also reported that she had been approached by Katie Rush of the Reno/Sparks Visitor Authority requesting hosts/hostesses on Wednesday July 11, 2007 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM.  We were recommended by Barbara McKay of Fourth Ward School to dress and be at various houses in Virginia City for 85 prospective conventioneers.  Paulette Grune collected names of those interested and will ask if there is an orientation and if people get feed at dinner also.   Also the question of a fee or donation was appropriate.  It was decided to get a donation then the organization could dispense the funds as we wish.

CONFEDERATE CHIEF OF STAFF:  Bud Miller had nothing to report.

UNION CHIEF OF STAFF:  Tom Lynch reported that he had received three (3) safety tests: Derek Wall, Rory and Paul Ferguson.  It was noted that Lisa Wells and Robert Burr have not submitted tests at this time.  Tom Lynch also reported on the presentation he gave to the Minden Middle School three (3) fourth grade classes and that his presentation was very well received.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

None.

NEW BUSINESS:

Carson Rendezvous:  Russ Hahn noted that opening ceremonies will begin at 10:00 AM. The parade organization will start at 9:30 AM from the Pony Express Pavilion.  The cannon, Sweet Pea, will fire at opening ceremonies.  Our camp will open after opening ceremonies.  We will receive 12 pounds of powder this year.  We will have cannon and rifle demonstrations, living history and dance; the passports have the schedule but we need to resolve the contradiction of Fashion Show schedule.  Rex and Debbie Reed have graciously invited camp participants to homemade soup, bread and wine at their home on Saturday evening.  They have a van and will gladly drive guests to their home and back before the dance.

Russ Hahn also reported that we have been invited to Pony Express Trail Anniversary by Lisa Wolf on Friday June 15-17th weekend.

POINTS FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER:

Rex Reed made the motion, seconded by Paulette Grune, to adjourn.  Meeting adjourned at 7:40

Respectively recorded and submitted by Barbara White for the Inspector General.
